No More Chargers & Long-Term Laptops: ?!

Why and What to Do?

"Why did the library stop loaning chargers?"

  1. Chargers are expensive: Over the past five years, the library has spent $4,000 on laptop and phone chargers.
  2. Chargers don't last: They don't hold up under constant use with multiple people.
  3. Chargers disappear: Many people just keep the chargers and don't bother to return them.

"But what if I need a charger?"

  1. Plan to carry your own chargers with you to class and around campus.
  2. If you need to replace your phone charger, both CVS and Dollar General are within walking distance of campus and carry a variety of affordable charging cables for phones.
  3. If you need to replace your laptop charger, both Amazon and Walmart carry Apple and Windows laptop accessories that can be delivered or picked up locally very quickly.

"I really need help getting a laptop for the semester - what do I do?"

  1. The library is open 106 hours each week during the semester and offers a number of desktop computers fully loaded with campus software programs.
  2. If you require a laptop for your studies but can't afford one, please submit this application form and someone from ITS/Financial Aid/whoever will follow up with you.

"What technology can I still get from the library?"

  1. Short-term (1-2 weeks) laptop loans, both Windows and Mac: For when your laptop is being repaired or for other short-term needs (like conferences, presentations). Available for reservation here.
  2. All kinds of other cool gear and equipment! DSLR cameras, video cameras, film-making accessories; PA systems, projectors and much more! Browse all the different equipment and reserve here.

"What can I get that I don't need to reserve?"

  1. Just stop by the Circulation desk for these useful items:  Headphones; personal whiteboards; whiteboard markers; USB portable DVD drives; USB flash drives; index cards; what else?
