Meals will be provided. In addition to lunch on Tuesday, we have two special events planned:
Monday evening from 5-7pm, in honor of Juneteenth, there will be a program hosted by local historians Michael Hughes and Mike Denis of the Danville Boyle County African American Historical Society. Mr. Hughes and Mr. Denis will discuss the history of Danville’s Black business district, Second Street, in conjunction with the award-winning We Were Here exhibit. This historical storytelling project celebrates our area’s rich African American heritage and acknowledges the societal and cultural erasure endured by the Danville and Boyle County African American community in the name of urban renewal. Dinner will be served.
Tuesday, June 20th we will visit Shaker Village for a tour of the property and its history followed by dinner at their on-site resturant, The Trustees Table.
