Native American Treaties
Treaties were made between the United States government and American Indian tribes until 1871. In 1871 Congress passed a law which said that Indian tribes were no longer to be recognized as independent nations with whom treaties could be made.

Prior to 1950, treaties to which the U.S. was a party were published in Statutes at Large. In 1950, a new series, United States Treaties and other International Agreements began.

The first part lists bilateral treaties by country and then by subject; the second part lists multilateral treaties by subject and indicates the parties. The first official publication of U.S. treaties and international agreements is through the Treaties and Other International Acts Series, a series of pamphlets containing the texts of agreements. After appearing in TIAS in “slip” form, U.S. treaties and international agreements are published in bound volumes of United States Treaties and Other International Agreements. Coverage is from 1996 to present.

Treaty Documents (Online)
The best place to find the text of recent treaties to which the U.S. is a party are the Treaty Documents
issued by the United States Senate. The FDsys website contains Senate Treaty Documents and Senate Executive Reports from the 104th Congress forward. THOMAS
provides the text of treaties from the 90th Congress forward.
Treaties and Other International Agreements of the United States of America, 1776-1949 (Bevans)

A 13-volume set which contains U.S. Treaties before 1950, including those which were never published in Statutes at Large. Volumes 1-4 contain multilateral treaties and agreements which are listed by date of signature. Volumes 5-12 contain bilateral treaties and agreements arranged alphabetically by signatory country. Volume 13 is the index to the entire set organized by both country and subject.
