Not all links are to royalty-free images. Some links provide images for educational use only. Please consult the terms of use for each site.

Digital library of more than one million images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and social sciences with a suite of software tools to view, present, and manage images for research and pedagogical purposes. Designed for college students, this scholarly resource contains indexing and abstracts for more than 13,780 journals, with full-text for more than 9,000 of those titles.

To find images using Academic Search Complete, type in your search term and then scroll down to Image Quick View Types. Check B/W Photo, Color Photo and Illustration.

Britannica Academic Media Browse
Contains thousands of images, browseable by topics such as: animals, arts and literature, earth and geography, history, plants, science and mathematics, society, sports and technology.

This digital image database replaces MDID. Available to Centre College users via login.
JSTOR Plant Science This link opens in a new window
Access to botanical and other resources from around the world including: more than 600,000 plant type specimens; over 175,000 scientific research articles, and more than 20,000 paintings, photographs, drawings, and other images.

Designed for public libraries, MasterFILE Premier contains full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals. This database also contains full text from reference books, primary source documents, and an image collection of photos, maps and flags.

Provides web access to the entire text of Grove Art and The Dictionary of Art along with several other art resources such as The Oxford Companion to Western Art, Benezit Dictionary of Artists, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms.

Women's Issues and Identities spans multiple geographic regions, providing a variety of perspectives on women's experiences and cultural impact. Within the archive can be found fascinating historical records from Europe, North and South America, Africa, India, East Asia, and the Pacific Rim with content in English, French, German, and Dutch.

HEIR, the Historic Environment Image Resource
From the University of Oxford's lantern and glass slide collection from the 1890s to 1950, this collection contains historic photos of monuments, landscapes and environments taken across the world alongside photos of their modern settings so the results of changes and the implications of these changes can be studied. Many images of archaeological sites included. For educational purposes only.
