Omeka is a web publishing platform for sharing digital collections and creating media-rich online exhibits.

Different types of Omeka

Omeka.net

If you’re new to Omeka, we recommend that you use Omeka.net. Here, you can build an Omeka website hosted for free on the Omeka.net servers. Omeka.net works well for classroom instruction, allowing each student to manage their own site independently. The institutional Omeka.net account is available to Centre College faculty, staff, students, and project collaborators. Contact libraryarchives@centre.edu to discuss options.

Review the Omeka.net Use Policy to determine if an institutional account is right for you.

Omeka.org (Omeka Classic)

Best for those who run an independent website on their own servers, Omeka Classic offers a full installation of Omeka on your own website with software available online for free. It requires regular site maintenance and an ability to install plugins. It is the most flexible in terms of size of files, limited only by the server you use, as well as the most flexible in appearance.

Omeka S

Is the newest version, made to be used between various institutions or locations.  Centre College uses this for the Pathways to Diversity site.
