Genealogy Resources: Asian Resources

On this site you can find a growing body of information about men and women of many different nationalities, professions and ages, who lived and worked in China between the 1850s and 1940s.

This page provides national genealogy resources from the Peoples Republic of China and links to its provinces.

There are 286 entries, of which 15 are genealogies which are not from Huizhou (eight from Jingde and seven from Jingxian). These genealogies, preserved at the Zhongguancun site, are essentially Ming period, or Qing period manuscripts. the genealogies kept at the Anhui Provincial Library represent about half of the copies kept in this fund: the genealogies analyzed are among the oldest, numbering 96, the genealogies kept at the Library of the Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences: there are about 60 copies, mostly from the Qing dynasty.

The Shibao (The Eastern Times 時報) was an important Chinese newspaper founded June 1904 by Di Baoxian (狄葆賢) and published in Shanghai. Other important editors of the newspaper include Chen Leng （陳冷 Chen Jinghan 陳景韓 ）and Lei Fen (雷奮 Lei Jixing 雷繼興). In October 1921 the newspaper was sold to Huang Bohui (黃伯惠) and continued until 1939.
